X-ray machines have begun operating in Uman to speed up security screening for pilgrims

In the Hasidic pilgrimage area in Uman, metal detectors—rented by the charitable organization “Uman Historical and Cultural Center Foundation”—have begun operating.

This equipment helps speed up security screening for pilgrims arriving in Uman for Rosh Hashanah and enhances security in the pilgrimage area.

Specialists from the Vinnytsia and Odesa airports, who have relevant experience working with such equipment, are operating the body scanners.

As noted by the foundation’s executive director, Iryna Rybnytska, the use of X-ray scanners is an important part of the organizational and security preparations for the pilgrimage.

“We understand that during the mass arrival of pilgrims, it is very important not only to ensure an adequate level of screening but also to make this process as fast and organized as possible. That is why our foundation is renting X-ray scanners, which help speed up baggage screening and reduce the burden on checkpoints. Specialists from the Vinnytsia and Odesa airports, who have practical experience in this field, have been brought in to operate the equipment,” noted Iryna Rybnytska.

The foundation emphasizes that the main goal of these measures is to create safer and more orderly conditions for pilgrims, local residents, and the services operating in the pilgrimage area.

Safety, organization, and coordination among all services remain key priorities during the preparation for and celebration of Rosh Hashanah in Uman.
