More than 34,000 Hasidim have arrived in Uman: the city is stepping up public health and epidemic control measures

More than 34,000 Hasidic pilgrims have already arrived in Uman for the Rosh Hashanah celebrations. In connection with the mass arrival of pilgrims, the city is stepping up measures aimed at ensuring the public’s health and preventing the spread of disease. This was reported by the Cherkasy Regional Center for Disease Control and Prevention.

Specialists from the State Institution “Cherkasy Regional Center for Disease Control and Prevention of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine” are implementing the necessary preventive measures during the preparation and conduct of the pilgrimage.

Relevant proposals regarding the organization of preventive measures were included in the Action Plan for Ensuring the Celebration of Rosh Hashanah in Uman in 2026, approved by the head of the Cherkasy Regional State Administration.

These measures are also included in the Plan for the Safe Stay of Event Participants and the Public in the City of Uman During the Rosh Hashanah Celebrations, approved by a decision of the Uman City Commission on Technogenic and Environmental Safety and Emergencies.

During the mass pilgrimage, special attention is being paid to the prevention of infectious diseases, the sanitary conditions of the areas, interagency coordination, and rapid response to potential risks.

Specialized agencies, local authorities, medical personnel, and organizations involved in ensuring appropriate conditions during the pilgrims’ stay in the city have been engaged in these efforts.
