Uman is preparing to welcome Hasidic pilgrims for Rosh Hashanah, which this year will take place from September 11 to 13. This was announced by Ihor Taburets, head of the Cherkasy Regional State Administration.
As in previous years, Ukrainian authorities are urging believers to be mindful of the security situation: a war initiated by Russia is ongoing in Ukraine, so preparations for the pilgrimage are being carried out with heightened attention to security, law and order, and interagency coordination.
Currently, the main task is to ensure that the city, the region, and all relevant agencies are fully prepared for the arrival of pilgrims.
A meeting of the relevant commission was held at the Regional State Administration
According to Ihor Taburets, a meeting of the relevant commission was held at the Regional Military Administration, during which key tasks related to preparations for the pilgrimage were coordinated.
Among the main areas of focus are:
- security;
- law and order;
- medical care;
- sanitary measures;
- transportation;
- operation of checkpoints.
All services must be prepared to operate at an increased capacity.
Infrastructure and routes are being inspected
In preparation for Rosh Hashanah in Uman, infrastructure is being inspected, routes are being tested, and personnel responsible for specific areas of work are being assigned.
This involves comprehensive preparations for the city during a period when the number of people in certain areas of Uman will increase significantly.
Decisions regarding the organization of the pilgrimage will be adjusted according to the security situation.
An operational headquarters will be set up in Uman
An emergency response headquarters will be operational in Uman during the pilgrimage. Its mission will be to coordinate the actions of emergency services, respond to emerging situations, and ensure cooperation among the relevant agencies.
Special attention will be paid to the safety of local residents and pilgrims.
