The Tikun Ha-Klali—the largest Hasidic prayer gathering—took place in Uman. More than 15,000 people participated.
At noon, the pilgrims paused and repeated the prayer that was broadcast over loudspeakers throughout the neighborhood. During the prayer, the pilgrims recited passages from 10 of King David’s psalms; reciting them is considered an act of atonement for sin.
It is known that these prayers take place in all Bratslav Hasidic communities, both in Uman and in Israel and other countries.
Celebrations for the Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashanah, will begin this evening.
Note: “Tikun Akhali” was revealed and transmitted to the world by the great and holy tzaddik Rabbi Nachman of Braslav. “Tikun Akali” consists of 10 psalms (16, 32, 41, 42, 59, 77, 90, 105, 137. 150) of King David’s “Tehillim,” and it is the foundation of the entire book.
The prayer is intended for everyone: men and women; adults and children. When read aloud, sequentially, without interruption whenever possible, and at any time of day, it helps—as the title suggests—with any difficulties, in any area of life, and in any situation.
