Renovation work is beginning on the lanes designated for processing buses entering Poland from Ukraine at the Polish “Medika” border crossing. This was reported by the State Border Guard Service’s press office.
As a result, the passage of buses through the “Shehyni–Medyka” checkpoint will be slowed down. Travelers are urged to take possible delays into account when planning their trips.
Bus service will not be suspended
According to the Polish side, bus traffic through the checkpoint will continue.
However, due to the repair work, the processing and clearance of buses will be subject to delays. The estimated throughput capacity may be up to eight buses within a 12-hour period.
The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine warns that the overall throughput capacity for bus traffic will decrease significantly.
One of the busiest border crossings
“Shehyni–Medyka” is one of the busiest border crossings on the Ukrainian-Polish border.
Every day, a significant volume of international passenger traffic—by bus and car—passes through it. Due to repair work on the Polish side, traffic congestion and longer wait times are possible.
Travelers are advised to choose alternative routes
Citizens planning to cross the border by bus are urged to take these restrictions and possible delays into account in advance.
If possible, travelers are advised to choose other border crossing points on the Ukrainian-Polish border to avoid long waits.
Before departure, it is also advisable to check the latest information on traffic at border crossings and allow extra time for border and customs checks.
