The first pilgrims have already begun arriving in Ukraine for Rosh Hashanah, which takes place this year from September 15 to 17.
The “Uman Historical and Cultural Center” Charitable Foundation reported on September 7 to the United Jewish Community of Ukraine that approximately 2,000 Hasidim had already arrived in Uman ahead of the celebration marking the beginning of the new year 5784 (2023—ed.).
According to the Jewish community, a total of more than 30,000 Hasidic pilgrims are expected to arrive in Uman, in the Cherkasy region, this year.
What restrictions will be in place in Uman?
Ihor Taburets, head of the Cherkasy Regional State Administration, announced that to ensure the safety of local residents and visitors, special regulations governing entry, exit, and movement will be in effect in the city from September 11 to 21. In the pilgrimage area, restrictions will be in place on the sale and use of certain categories of goods.
