Ukrainian carriers will be able to use permits for regular international passenger transport issued for the “Shehyni–Medyka” border crossing at two additional border crossings on the Ukrainian-Polish border.
These are the following checkpoints:
-
- “Nyzhankovychi–Malhovychi”;
-
- “Smilnytsia–Kroscienko.”
The Ministry of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine announced the relevant agreement.
Why the changes were introduced
The decision was made due to repair work on the Polish side of the “Shehyni–Medyka” border crossing.
The repairs began on June 15 and, according to preliminary information, will continue until the end of 2027. Due to the ongoing work, the processing of buses on this route may be delayed, which could lead to longer wait times at the border.
To reduce the load on “Shehyni” and ensure the uninterrupted operation of regular bus routes, Ukraine and Poland have agreed to allow previously issued permits to be used at other border crossing points.
Permits will be valid at three border crossing points
From now on, permits issued for the “Shehyni–Medyka” route can be used at three border crossing points:
-
- “Shehyni–Medyka”;
-
- “Nyzhankovychi–Malhovychi”;
-
- “Smilnytsia–Kroscenko.”
The corresponding settings have already been added to the “eCherga” system. This means that carriers can book an electronic queue with these permits at two additional border crossing points.
What This Will Mean for Carriers and Passengers
The Ministry of Development expects that the new mechanism will help reduce lines, cut down on bus wait times at the border, and prevent disruptions to regular international routes.
Carriers are advised to take these changes into account when planning their routes and, if necessary, choose alternative border crossing points with Poland.
The agreement was reached by the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine, the Ministry of Infrastructure of Poland, and the Ministry of the Interior of Poland.
