The State Service of Ukraine for Ethnic Policy and Freedom of Conscience held an interagency working meeting to prepare for the Hasidic pilgrimage to Uman for the Rosh Hashanah holiday.
This was reported by the press service of the State Service for Ethnic Policy and Freedom of Conscience (DESC).
The meeting took place on July 14 and was chaired by Viktor Yelensky, Head of the State Service. Participants included representatives of central executive bodies, law enforcement agencies, the Cherkasy Regional Military Administration, charitable organizations accompanying the pilgrimage, and other institutions involved in the preparations.
This year, Rosh Hashanah celebrations will take place from September 11 to 13. As in previous years, Hasidic pilgrims from around the world are expected to arrive in Uman to celebrate the New Year at the grave of Tzadik Nachman, the founder of Bratslav Hasidism.
During the meeting, participants discussed security issues, the organization of the pilgrimage, the operation of checkpoints, medical care, accommodation, and meals for pilgrims, as well as the mechanism for collecting the tourist tax.
Viktor Yelensky emphasized that coordinated cooperation among all responsible agencies is essential to ensuring that the pilgrimage takes place in an organized and safe manner, in compliance with all necessary requirements.
