In Uman, on the eve of the Rosh Hashanah celebrations, measures to enforce immigration laws were stepped up. A joint exercise was held in the city involving police officers, border guards, immigration service employees, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), and Israeli law enforcement officers who are working in Uman during the pilgrimage. This was reported by<\/a> the Migration Service of Kirovohrad and Cherkasy Regions.<\/p>\n

This year, Hasidic pilgrims will celebrate Rosh Hashanah in Uman starting on September 11. It is on the eve of the holiday that the largest number of pilgrims traditionally arrive in the city, so law enforcement and relevant agencies are operating on high alert.<\/p>\n

Inspections were conducted at venues hosting religious events, in areas where pilgrims are concentrated, and along their travel routes. The main focus was on ensuring compliance with immigration laws, identifying individuals who may be in Ukraine illegally, and preventing public order violations.<\/p>\n

Separately, law enforcement officers conducted preventive outreach with foreign nationals. Pilgrims were informed about the requirements of Ukraine\u2019s administrative and criminal laws, the consequences of violating them, and the need to comply with established rules for staying in the country.<\/p>\n

Since September 4, officers from the Uman Department of the Central-Southern Interregional Directorate of the State Migration Service have been operating under enhanced measures. During this period,<\/strong> six Hasidic pilgrims<\/strong> were identified in the city who had violated immigration laws<\/strong>. Decisions were made to forcibly return them, and two of them were banned from entering Ukraine for a period of three years.<\/p>\n

An Israeli citizen who entered Ukraine using a forged document<\/strong> was also identified. He was forcibly deported from the country.<\/p>\n

In addition, one foreign national was held administratively liable under Part 1 of Article 203 of the Code of Administrative Offenses for failing to register his place of residence in a timely manner. Twenty-six temporary residence permits that had expired<\/strong> were also confiscated.<\/p>\n

Enhanced enforcement efforts in Uman are ongoing. The Migration Service, in cooperation with law enforcement agencies, will continue to monitor compliance with migration laws and ensure the safe conduct of festive and religious events.<\/p>\n

During the period of mass pilgrimage to Uman, foreigners are advised to carry valid documents, comply with the rules for staying in Ukraine, respond to lawful requests from law enforcement officers, and check in advance the validity periods of the documents required for entry into and stay in the country.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
