In the days leading up to the holiday, the number of foreigners arriving in organized groups has increased significantly.

Pilgrims are traveling en masse through the Lviv region to Uman. After passing through border control, they continue their journey by minibus, bus, private transfer, or taxi.

On the morning of September 10, according to the “Nakordon” service, about 65 vehicles were waiting in line at the “Medika–Shehyni” border crossing. The estimated wait time to clear customs was nearly seven hours.

The increased traffic at the border is due to the approaching Rosh Hashanah. In 2026, the holiday will begin on the evening of September 11 and last until the evening of September 13. Every year, Hasidim from various countries travel to Uman to celebrate the Jewish New Year at the grave of Rabbi Nachman—the founder of Bratslav Hasidism.

Some pilgrims say that despite the war and the threat of Russian shelling, they did not cancel their trip to Uman. At the same time, people are complaining about the high cost of travel and the rising prices of transfers from the border to the city.

Andriy Demchenko, a spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, reported that in the days leading up to the holiday, the number of pilgrims arriving in Ukraine has risen from several hundred to nearly 8,000 people per day.

The main flow of pilgrims is currently also passing through border crossing points on the border with Moldova. Among them is “Starokozache,” which was attacked by Russian drones the day before. Two people were killed in the strike, and two others were wounded. Operations at the checkpoint were temporarily suspended but later resumed.

Pilgrims planning to cross the border in the coming days are advised to check the situation at border crossings in advance, allow extra time for the trip, and follow official announcements from the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.

It is also important to note that due to the influx of pilgrims, martial law, security checks, and conditions at specific border crossing points, wait times at the border may vary throughout the day.

At the Ukrainian-Polish border, at the “Medika–Shehyni” border crossing, lines stretching for hours have formed due to an increase in the flow of Hasidic pilgrims traveling …

[32

post-3463","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news
["GET
