This is stated in a letter from the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Since the start of Russia\u2019s full-scale war against Ukraine, large groups of pilgrims traveling to Uman have been forced to use alternative routes every year. These routes often pass through Polish territory.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">The Polish side urges pilgrims to select border crossing points in advance to reduce the risk of long waits at the border.<\/p>\n<h2>Where Poland recommends traveling<\/h2>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">When returning from Uman after Rosh Hashanah, Polish authorities recommend using the following border crossings whenever possible:<\/p>\n<ul data-spread=\"false\">\n<li><strong>\u201cKorchova\u201d<\/strong>;<\/li>\n<li><strong>\u201cBudomierz.\u201d<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">These routes are recommended as alternatives to the \u201cMedika\u201d border crossing, where repair work is currently underway.<\/p>\n<h2>Where Poland advises against traveling<\/h2>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">The Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs asks that you avoid the <strong>\u201cMedyka\u201d<\/strong> border crossing if possible.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Due to modernization and limited capacity, choosing this crossing may result in waits lasting several hours.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">The situation may be particularly challenging when pilgrims are returning from Uman.<\/p>\n<h2>Why you shouldn\u2019t rely on just one route<\/h2>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Due to restrictions at the \u201cMedyka\u2013Shehyni\u201d border crossing, some bus and truck traffic is already being rerouted to other border crossings.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">In particular, increased traffic may be expected at:<\/p>\n<ul data-spread=\"false\">\n<li><strong>Malhovice<\/strong>;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Kroscienko<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Therefore, pilgrims and carriers should have an alternative route and constantly monitor the situation at the border.<\/p>\n<h2>How the EES Might Affect Your Trip<\/h2>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">The <strong>EES<\/strong> system has been in operation at the EU\u2019s external borders since April 2026.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">It involves registering travelers and collecting biometric data during the initial border check.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">This may increase wait times at the border, especially when large groups of people arrive at the same time.<\/p>\n<h2>What Carriers Should Do<\/h2>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Carriers and tour operators should:<\/p>\n<ul data-spread=\"false\">\n<li>determine the border crossing point in advance;<\/li>\n<li>avoid planning a route through \u201cMedika\u201d if other options are available;<\/li>\n<li>consider \u201cKorchowa\u201d and \u201cBudomierz\u201d;<\/li>\n<li>notify the Polish side about the groups;<\/li>\n<li>allow for extra time;<\/li>\n<li>warn pilgrims about possible lines.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpm_excerpt clearfix\"><p>The Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs has provided pilgrims traveling to Uman with recommendations on planning their route across the Polish-Ukrainian border.
