{"id":1981,"date":"2023-08-17T12:06:37","date_gmt":"2023-08-17T09:06:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/umantravel.com\/?p=1981"},"modified":"2026-08-18T10:50:10","modified_gmt":"2026-08-18T07:50:10","slug":"the-sbu-conducted-counterterrorism-exercises-in-uman-on-the-eve-of-the-rosh-hashanah-celebrations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/umantravel.com\/en\/the-sbu-conducted-counterterrorism-exercises-in-uman-on-the-eve-of-the-rosh-hashanah-celebrations\/","title":{"rendered":"The SBU conducted counterterrorism exercises in Uman on the eve of the Rosh Hashanah celebrations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Security Service of Ukraine carried out a series of counterterrorism measures in Uman, Cherkasy Oblast, ahead of the annual Rosh Hashanah celebration and the arrival of a large number of pilgrims.<\/p>\r\n<p> <br \/>\r\n<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This was reported by <a href=\"https:\/\/ssu.gov.ua\/novyny\/sbu-posyliuie-bezpekovi-zakhody-v-umani-naperedodni-sviata-roshkhashana\">the SBU press service<\/a>.<\/p>\r\n<p> <br \/>\r\n<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These measures are aimed at strengthening security and refining rapid response to potential threats.<\/p>\r\n<p> <br \/>\r\n<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Regional units of the SBU, the National Police, the National Guard, the State Emergency Service, and other agencies are involved in the counter-sabotage operations.<\/p>\r\n<p> <br \/>\r\n<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Comprehensive training exercises took place on the grounds of an unfinished building at the Rabbi Nachman Historical and Cultural Center to test the security of the pilgrimage site.<\/p>\r\n<p> <br \/>\r\n<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cSBU special forces simulated a scenario and carried out an assault using mountaineering equipment, detained a simulated \u2018terrorist group,\u2019 and freed the hostages,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\r\n<p> <br \/>\r\n<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, the SBU and the National Police recommend that Hasidic pilgrims refrain from visiting Ukraine this year to celebrate Rosh Hashanah.
