The Cherkasy Regional Military Administration (RMA) is urging Hasidim to refrain from making the pilgrimage to Uman for Rosh Hashanah celebrations, but is taking steps to strengthen security.<\/p>\r\n

\u201cRosh Hashanah. Less than a month to go. As in previous years of the war, we first and foremost recommend that believers take into account the security situation in our country and refrain from visiting Uman. Regular Russian attacks and strikes on civilian targets, as well as provocations\u2014these aren\u2019t just scare tactics, but, unfortunately, a part of everyday life in Ukraine\u2026,\u201d wrote the head of the regional military administration (OVA), Ihor Taburets, wrote on his Telegram channel on Tuesday.<\/p>\r\n

<\/p>\r\n
At the same time, he noted that local authorities will take all necessary security measures for believers who nevertheless decide to visit this place of worship.<\/p>\r\n

“The measures are comprehensive. Of course, security protocols will be strengthened as much as possible. We will keep you informed about them. The focus is also on shelters. We are finalizing this aspect with the relevant agencies\u2014this was emphasized at today\u2019s special commission meeting. We are also refining other areas: from providing medical care to ensuring sanitary and epidemiological safety\u2026 The key priority remains unchanged\u2014the safety of local residents and visitors,\u201d he clarified.<\/p>\r\n

Taburets also reported that an operational headquarters will be set up on site during the pilgrimage to coordinate efforts.<\/p>\r\n

Every year, tens of thousands of Jews who follow one of the branches of Judaism \u2014 Hasidism \u2014 make a pilgrimage to Uman, where the grave of the founder of Bratslav Hasidism, Tzadik Nachman, who lived in the late 18th and early 19th centuries, is located.<\/p>\r\n

<\/p>\r\n
The pilgrimage coincides with the celebration of the Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashanah, which this year is observed from October 2 to 4.<\/p>\r\n

Hasidim believe that if they spend Rosh Hashanah at the grave of Tzadik Nachman, the coming year will be a very happy one for them.<\/p>\r\n
