Preserving sites of remembrance associated with the history and religious heritage of the Jewish community remains an important component of Ukraine\u2019s international cooperation.<\/p>\r\n

This issue was discussed during a meeting between Ukraine\u2019s First Deputy Minister of Culture, Ivan Verbytskyi, and a delegation of representatives from the United Jewish Organization of Williamsburg and Northern Brooklyn.<\/p>\r\n

\n<\/p>\r\n
\n<\/p>\r\n
\n<\/p>\r\n
The parties focused primarily on the preservation and proper maintenance of historic burial sites and memorial areas in Uman.<\/p>\r\n
\n<\/p>\r\n
\n<\/p>\r\n
Separately, the meeting participants raised the issue of improving legal protection for sites of historical, cultural, and religious significance to the Jewish community.<\/p>\r\n
\n<\/p>\r\n
\n<\/p>\r\n
Representatives of the delegation emphasized that Uman holds a special place in the spiritual life of the global Bratslav Hasidic community. Every year, the city is visited by pilgrims from various countries for whom a trip to Rabbi Nachman\u2019s burial site is an important part of their religious tradition.<\/p>\r\n

\n<\/p>\r\n
\n<\/p>\r\n
According to representatives of the Jewish community, the pilgrimage to Rabbi Nachman\u2019s grave has not only religious but also cultural significance.<\/p>\r\n

\n<\/p>\r\n
Such visits promote intercultural dialogue, foster humanitarian ties between nations, and draw attention to the history of Uman\u2019s Jewish community.<\/p>\r\n
\n<\/p>\r\n
\n<\/p>\r\n
The meeting also addressed the need to preserve historical burial sites and memorial areas associated with the tragic chapters of the Jewish community\u2019s past.<\/p>\r\n

The participants emphasized that such sites require a responsible approach, proper maintenance, and effective legal protection.<\/p>\r\n
